Danny Gamez

Pastor Danny Gamez oversees our Spanish Ministry here at Calvary Chapel Downey. He received Jesus Christ in August of 2007. After being diagnosed with cancer a few months later his passion for God and His Word grew stronger. He fell in love with Calvary Chapel and enrolled at CCBC-Downey where he was trained and equipped for ministry. He started a Bible Study at his workplace in Santa Fe Springs, while serving in Pioneer Clubs and Missions ministry.

In 2012, Danny answered the call to go out to the mission field in Mexico at CC Merida, leading the Bible College there and teaching English. In 2015, Danny answered the call to plant a Calvary Chapel church in Veracruz, Mexico. There he pastored CC Xalapa and CC Acatlan, teaching the word, making disciples, and training leaders. Two Mexican national pastors took over the churches and in January 2018, Danny returned to the U.S. to come on staff with us. 

Danny has been married to his wife Sylvia since 2006 and they have four beautiful children: Matthew, Victoria, Luke, and Benjamin.

 This verse in 2 Timothy has been a great blessing in his life and ministry;

“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
